On the Wild Side

The Crafty Collaborations Team

The Crafty Collaborations team is comprised of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world. Each month, we participate in several collaborative projects including blog hops, like this one, to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.

On the Wild Side

My daughter loves tigers, and her birthday was fast approaching. I knew I wanted to use the Wild Cats stamp set.  It was perfect!

So was a mystery challenge that I took part in.  The paint swatch style of this background worked perfectly to make sure my tiger was front and center.

I let the suite colours guide me when selecting what colours to use for the background. I don't think I would have come up with this combo on my own! Merry Merlot, Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight, Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen and Basic Black really help the tiger pop.

I've used a strip of Evening Evergreen Shimmer Vellum and regular vellum cut from the Seasonal Labels dies to help fade the background a bit and provides some grounding for the focal point and the greeting.

If you want to make this project, you'll need:
  • a neutral card base
  • six 3/4" x 5" strips of paper - either coordinating cardstock to create an Ombre or Rainbow, or colours that go together.
  • 4" x 5 1/4" piece of cardstock (should match your cardbase)
  • Focal point image (stamp or die cut)
  • Vellum basic shape for focal point (circle, square, label)
  • 3/4" x 4" neutral cardstock or DSP
  • Optional: Ribbon or Twine
  • Small texture stamps or embossing folders (to create pattern on the cardstock)
  • Paper trimmer
To create the paint swatch strips, you will glue your six strips of coordinating cardstock across your piece of 4" x 5 1/4" of cardstock, leaving a bit of space between. Trim off any overhang and then cut the cardstock into 3/4" strips. You'll be left with a 5/8' strip that I used on the inside of my card.

I hope you have fun with this!

Sale-a-bration - Counting Sheep

I love Saleabration - spoiling my customers with free stuff is so much fun and I love showing them all the neat things they can create with their freebies!

At my Facebook Live a couple of  weeks ago, I created this super cute card with the Counting Sheep stamp set. Each of the Counting Sheep stamp set and the Sheep dies can be earned with a $60 purchase, or if you want both, you’ll need to place a $120 order. I absolutely love the fence in this die set!

I hope this idea continues to inspire your own projects.
