Global Design Project #324

I'm stretching myself this year and took on the goal of doing a minimum of two challenges a month. (Wouldn't it be great to do more?! That means my creative juices are really flowing!) Here is the first one for January....

I found this one a little difficult but I'm so happy with what I came up with. I created during my Facebook Live (Wednesdays at 7PM CT). Lives are a lot of fun and I love it when I get some audience participation. Since this is one of the only ways to meet right now, it is one of the events that I love doing. Hopefully, I'll meet you on one of my lives sometime soon!

I knew I wanted to create a sympathy card for a friend who lost someone very special recently. Since I was creating a sympathy card, I definitely wanted to create something more somber.

I chose the new Amazing Silhouettes from the new January to June Occasions catalogue. That beautiful watermark around the image is part of the stamp. I used a blending brush around it to blend out the white paper which just looked a little too stark.

I added the Evening Evergreen Chevron ribbon to ground the image and the beautiful brass butterflies embellishments.

I used the new Sale-a-bration Special Moments greetings set for the sympathy greeting.

Global Design Challenge #323

Global Design Project #323

This year I'm challenging myself to participate in 2 design challenges every month. Kicking the year off by starting with this challenge!

I chose to use a Sale-a-bration set - Driving By - for my design. Sale-a-bration products will be available from January 4 to February 28 with a minimum purchase of $60 (CDN).

I saw that VW bus in the set and knew it just cried out for a hippie theme. Then I found this fun fold on a project by Ronda Wade and the design started to come together.

I chose to use Pool Party for a fresh, fun colour. Using a tone-on-tone stamp technique with the Spiral Dye creates that tie-dye background and the hints at the hippie theme.

Pairing up the Best Year stamp turns this into a fun birthday card. I've also included a picture of the inside of the card.
