Crafty Challenge Blog Hop - In Color Challenge

In Color Challenge

Thanks so much for stopping by!
It is always such an exciting time when Stampin' Up releases their new In Colors with the release of the new annual catalogue.

In color samplesThis year was no exception - these colours are beautiful and I've had such fun playing with them!  I'm really digging into these colours to design for my In Color club which launches today! It's so exciting.

One of the ways that I love to design is using a sketch and playing with colour combinations. Both of today's project play with sketches in different ways.

Purple is my favourite colour so I was sure that Fresh Freesia was going to be my favourite colour from this set.  However, I find myself drawn to the Pale Papaya often. You just never know what colour is going to speak to you!

These two fun projects were created at a crop retreat in the middle of May. We are in some pretty stringent lockdowns in Manitoba right now so it was such a blessing to meet virtually and craft with friends.

Project #1

The crop involved so many fun projects creating scrapbook pages and cards.  I'm not a traditional scrapbooker, I prefer to scrapbook digitally so I used the scrapbook projects as sketches to make my cards.  For this project, I took the beautiful scrapbook page on the left made by my friend Neemee and created this card.
A slight change in the dimensions of paper and some of the elements used and a beautiful card emerges.
It's so much fun to use a design and switch it up to get creative.

This card uses the beautiful Hand-Penned Petals suite. I've used 1" strips of the stunning designer series paper to create the background.  The scallop edged pieces is from a die in the Scalloped Contour dies. The greeting is from the Hand-Penned Memories and More card pack and I added a little bling using the Genial Gems.  In colors on this card include Pale Papaya, Soft Succulent and last year's Misty Moonlight.

Project #2

My second project was based on a sketch challenge during this crop.  I love using sketches as a starting point for designing ... and I love even more when it allows you to use up some scraps! You'll note the Soft Succulent striped pattern is used on both of these cards.  I was able to use the single 1 x 12" strip I'd cut for both cards.  The designer series paper used in the smaller rectangles was left from a different project.

Sketches like this one make starting a design easy!  I hope you give one a try!

I hope you enjoy all the projects presented during this hop!  I'm sure you can find so much creative inspiration in the designs we've shared!
